How to package applications with data stored in redirected folders

Overview

At Sault College we redirect a number of folders from the local location to a network location (MyDocuments, Pictures, Music, Videos, Nethood and Desktop).  AppsAnywhere is unable to store data in these locations because it can't use sources that aren't local to the device.  Fortunately this is easy to work around, below is an example of how this worked when packaging of Solid Works.

Instructions

ISSUE:

If data is stored in a redirected folder the app will fail to virtualize on a Corporate computer but will still work on a personal device.

SOLUTION 1:

If the data stored in this location isn't needed, simply exclude the data from the project.

SOLUTION 2:

If you need this information then you can follow these steps.
In this example, Solidworks has virtualized files/folders in -?desktop?. In the Cloudpaging Studio, check what files are in the desktop as in my example here:

  • Right click the folder and click Properties
  • Select Installed-temporary (layer 2)
  • Select Apply setting to Files and Subfolders to change any files or folders within to layer 2 as well
  • Click Okay

Afterwards, you should see things set to Layer 2:
