Overview
In order to access certain.college resources you need to use our VPN. If you need access, contact your faculty (Students) or the Service Desk (staff) at x2504 for help.
Purpose of using the college VPN
You will only need to use the VPN to access
- Access applications hosted on https://appsanywhere.saultcollege.ca that requires a license server.
- Any resources found on the Intranet
- Intranet - our.saultcollege.ca
- SISWeb
- PeopleSoft
- Account Management
- ...
- Accessing college servers
- SCIS
You do not need VPN to access:
- Mail – you can access it from your Outlook client on a college device
- Webmail – you can access this by typing www.office.com in a web browser
- LMS – Learning Management System (Faculty) - welearn.saultcollege.ca
- Office 365 applications (Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, Word, Excel … ) - www.office.com
NOTE: Make sure you are connected to the Internet off site from the college. No VPN access is required on campus.
Setting up VPN on a personal device where it has never been installed
- In a WebBrowers: Goto https://vpn.saultcollege.ca/mfa
NOTE: this site is not available when on Campus at the College but is only accessible from an a connection external to Sault College
Firefox
- You may see a message that "Your connection is not secure"
- Click Advanced
- Click Add Exception...
- Click Confirm Security Exception
- You will now be presented with a Login screen
- GROUP is SC-VPN
- USERNAME: {Use your saultcollege username)
- PASSWORD: {Same as college password}
- Click Login
- You should now be logged onto the CISCO webpage
To install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client
- Click the Start AnyConnect link.
NOTE: If this link is not present in the AnyConnect window, your account is not configured to use this feature. Please contact the Service Desk at 7057592554 ext 2576 for assistance.
- IF a pop-up window directs you to a website to download Sun Microsystems Java Runtime Environment, you do not have the correct version of the Java Runtime Environment installed on your system. If you see the pop-up, download Sun Java version 1.4 or later.
- IF a prompt to accept a security certificate appears, determine whether it is from the ASA. If so, accept it.
- After the webpage determines what OS - operating system and CPU you have - click the provided link.
- Click Download for Windows
NOTE: There is and INSTRUCTIONS link below the Download with detailed instructions
- Click on the Down Arrow in the top right hand corner of your browser
- Click the Folder icon to access the download
- Double click anyconnect-win-4.8.02042 ... " file to run it.
- On the Welcome screen click Next >
- Click I accept the terms in the License Agreement
- Click Next
- Click Install
- Once done click Finish
- Launch the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Cleint from the Start Menu
