Overview - What Is Packback?

Packback is an online discussion and writing platform that you access directly through Brightspace.

In Packback, you will:

  • Post questions related to course topics
  • Respond to classmates’ questions
  • Practice academic discussion and writing
  • Receive feedback to help improve your work

You do not need to create a separate Packback account — everything is accessed through Brightspace.

How to Access Packback in Your Course

Step 1: Go to your course Content area

  1. Log in to Brightspace
  2. Open your course
  3. Select Content from the course navigation

Step 2: Open the Packback activity

  1. Locate the module where your instructor placed the Packback activity
  2. Select the Packback link inside the module

✅ Always access Packback by clicking the link in Content
🚫 Do not bookmark Packback or try to access it outside Brightspace


First Time Using Packback: What to Expect

Accepting Cookies (Required)

The first time Packback opens on your device, you may be prompted to accept cookies.

You must:

  • Leave Essential Cookies enabled
  • Select Accept on this Device

Packback will not work correctly without accepting cookies.

Your Packback Account

The first time you open Packback:

  • A Packback account is created automatically for you
  • It is linked to your Brightspace login
  • No separate username or password is required

You may receive an email from Packback confirming your account.
✅ You do not need to reply to this email or create a separate login.


Participating in Packback Discussions

Once inside Packback, you will see the discussion(s your instructor has set up for the course.

You may be asked to:

  • Post a question
  • Respond to other students’ questions
  • Participate by a specific due date

Your instructor will provide details about:

  • Due dates
  • Participation requirements
  • Grading expectations

Grades and Feedback

If your instructor is grading Packback activity:

  • Your Packback score may be sent automatically to Brightspace
  • Feedback may be visible in Packback and/or Brightspace
  • Grades appear according to your instructor’s setup

Common Questions

Do I need a separate Packback account?
No. Your account is created automatically when you access Packback through Brightspace.

How do I access Packback again later?
Return to your course in Brightspace and click the Packback link in Content.

I see an error or blank screen
Try the following:

  • Make sure cookies are enabled in your browser
  • Refresh the page
  • Reopen Packback from the Brightspace Content link

If the issue continues, contact your instructor.

Can I use Packback on my phone?
Packback works best on a computer using a supported browser.
Some features may be limited on mobile devices.
