USB/Ethernet fix for WD19TB Dell Docking Station

Overview

This guide will show you how to fix the USB/Ethernet ports on the Dell WD19TB Docking station with your Dell Latitude Laptop. The cause of this problem is a Windows 10 operating system "Known Issue". Microsoft is currently aware of this issue and is currently working on a fix.  In the meantime, this guide will provide step-by-step instructions on how to solve this. 

 

Instructions

  1. First, verify that you have a WD19TB dock.

    On the Dell label, you will see the Model Type WD19TB to verify the issue.





  2. Once you have verified the WD19TB dock, shut down the laptop.
  3. Locate the, "F2 key" on the keyboard. Once you have located the F2 key, turn on the laptop and continuously tap the F2 key until you see, "Preparing to enter setup" message in the upper right-hand corner. F2 Key Location:


     
  4. Keep tapping the F2 key till you see this screen.

     
  5. A BIOS screen will appear. On the left-hand side, you will see a bunch of options to select, ie "General", "System Configuration", "Video", "Security", etc. 

    Click on the + on the option that says, "System Configuration"  and then select, "Thunderbolt Adapter Configuration" in the sub-menu. 



     
  6. Change the option from User Authorization to, "No Security". and click, "Apply" in the bottom right-hand corner. 


     
  7. A notification message will pop up asking you, "Are you sure that you want to apply changes?" Click Ok and then click exit. The moment you click exit, the laptop will restart and will take you back to your sign-in screen.
