Alldata - Motive Power

Overview

ALLDATA1 is a website that provides OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) repair information for professionals2. It’s the industry’s #1 choice for unedited mechanical and collision OEM repair information, diagnostic tools, shop management software, and support services2. It’s trusted by more than 400,000 technicians in over 115,000 shops worldwide2. The site also offers support services and shop management software2.

There are 2 methods to configure ALLDATA for use at the college.

Access to ALLDATA

External Acccess - New method pending...

I worked with our sales rep Kat, and the Alldata Security Team (Mike Hip) 1-866-906-3621.  

I successfully received the IP addresses that https://my.alldata.com/ip is routed through, from Mike Hip, and provided these to Drew.  

Toronto: 187.84.40.221
Richmond Hill: 184.25.72.7

Drew tested them and is having success.  He will be allowing network traffic to flow through the college internet IP address instead of the user's home IP address, when connected to our VPN.  

We use a technology called split tunneling.  This allows us to direct the VPN to only use college network resources when an assigned IP addresses is whitelisted.  We are attemped to whitelist the above IPs to meet Jamie's requirement.

 

Internal Access - This is the only approved method for students

For ALLDATA to work at the college we need to provide our public facing IP Ranges to the ALLDATA, which is how the decipher what to give open access to:

To report a new IP address or an change go to http://info.alldata.com/on/ip/ and fill out the form
To get our public facing IP range, reach out to Sault College Infrastrucuture team
To access ALLDATA Internally, go to AppsAnywhere or use this URL: https://my.alldata.com/ip

External Access

Only faculty have permission to use ALLDATA offsite

To add a new faculty account email: EG-Gov Ed <eg-gov_ed@alldata.com> with your request.  Provide the First/Last name of the faculty member and their email address.  ALLDATA will provide you with a new account and temporary password.
